Join Larry at Krugh Insurance making the difficult topic of Life Insurance broken down into its most simple form.
We watched a really nice event at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio tonight: The Colors presented by Heroes on Horseback! At least 50 veterans (or surviving family members) marched into Celeste carrying American flags, followed by a dozen or more AAQHA Queen Candidates with flags, followed by a dozen veterans on horseback with flags with places of Honor for a mounted guard of the U.S. flag, and a riderless horse representing all the unknown, unrecognized but never forgotten fallen in combat.
Our long-time friend Steve Carter was one of the many war veterans being honored. It was a wonderful and memorable event.
It's time to face the hard facts of life, folks: 1. Summer is over, no matter that it's 80 degrees outside as we type this. 2.Inevitably, Fall is right here, right now. Thus, 3. It's time to assemble your Halloween costume and get ready for Trick or Treat on Monday, October 31! This year, Krugh Insurance, inspired by some of our Scioto Plaza business neighbors, are hoping to treat crowds of little "Beggars" in front of our Urbana office, along with all the businesses from TSC all the way to Kroger's. We're hoping that while you're out chaperoning your trick-or-treaters around the neighborhoods, you'll haul 'em out to Scioto Plaza to collect some more goodies before their evening is done. I have it on good authority that our friends at Tractor Supply, Sunny Daze Tanning, Longroads Fitness, Krugh Insurance, H&R Block, Edwards Jones, Urbana Daily Citizen, Stitched With Care, and Kroger's will be participating, so it should be a highly-candy-profitable stretch of sidewalk for the superheroes, vampires, minions, monsters, and ghosties that show up. I hear Larry's gonna be a Cowboy, Rock is dressing up as The Incredible Hulk, and Sunny will haul out her best Witch's hat for the evening.
Help us celebrate our first annual "Scare on the Square" from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. for cool treats, fun music, not-so-scary lights and decorations adding to the fun. Happy Fall, and Happy Halloween!
The Krugh Insurance office in Catawba has been frequented over recent days by a tiny but persistent visitor who has distracted Larry, Paula, and Kim away from phones, computer screens, and paperwork for short but enjoyable bird-watching breaks.
The female ruby-throated hummingbird coaxed Paula into hanging a nectar-filled feeder outside the picture window, a prime spot, as it turns out, for Larry to try his hand at some bird photography of a different sort: he's been trying for a couple of years now to catch shots of our red-tailed hawks around Pleasant Township, and with his camera riding close at hand on the truck seat, he's also collected interesting pictures of wild turkeys and Canadian geese. Trying to catch photos of the darting, hovering 3-inch hummingbird as it feeds just inches away has proven to be a whole new challenge!
Local hummingbird experts tell us these little beauties are getting ready to migrate soon and are feeding even more voraciously than usual right now, so if you cook up some nectar (1/4 cup sugar to 1 cup boiling water, stirred well until thoroughly dissolved), and place a feeder near your window, deck, or patio, you might enjoy watching these tiny but mighty creations preparing for the next huge challenge of their lives! The experts say never use anything but everyday white sugar, and don't add any food coloring. These tiny marvels weigh barely more than a penny, but living at 90 wingbeats per second burns a whole lot of fuel! Even though 60% of their hourly diet is tiny insects and spiders, it's gonna require a lot of stored-up fuel to get them to their winter homes across the Gulf of Mexico to the Yucatan Peninsula!
To create a welcoming backyard habitat, try growing Beebalm and Penstemons for their late-summer blooms, and, if you can control it, a trumpet vine. Then find a comfy spot nearby, keep your camera ready, and watch!
We had a blast coloring with the kiddos at the Champaign County Fair this week. We hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did all week long!
Krugh Insurance will be at the Champaign County Fair all week (August 5-12) in the Merchants' Building. Stop by and visit our booth! Each day, we're having a different coloring contest for the kids (9 & under). We've got a lot of great prizes for the winners, and we'll be displaying the kids' artwork all week long. We hope to see you out at one of our favorite events of the year!
Keep up with all the latest news and information at Krugh Insurance!
